The 3rd Jakarta Marketing Week (JMW), underlined the importance of determination for excellence in making Indonesia WOW. “Indonesia WOW” is an idea created by a volunteer task force under Professor Paulus Wirutomo in collaboration with Hermawan Kartajaya to support “Mental Revolution”–a concept envisioned by President Joko Widodo to shape the mental model rather than merely focusing on institutional changes.
The Annual Jakarta Marketing Week, a MarkPlus-initiated knowledge sharing event among the nation’s marketing enthusiasts, has been repeating its success again since first launched in 2012. Being held in May 2015, the 3rd Jakarta Marketing Week was even more memorable as it marked the 25- year milestone of the firm.
CMO Club members and various influential figures, ranging from minister to professors, were invited to the closing ceremony of The 3rd Jakarta Marketing Week to celebrate the silver anniversary of MarkPlus. One of the distinguished guests was Vice Governor of DKI Jakarta, Djarot Saiful Hidayat who delivered closing remarks on behalf of the Governor.
“Marketing is needed for Indonesia as a breakthrough to advance, to be recognized, and to attract more investors. I, personally, and on behalf of Jakarta city would like thank MarkPlus for setting this event and for the 25 years of determination in promoting the world of marketing and also for marketing Indonesia,” said Djarot.
As ‘Making Indonesia WOW’ was the theme of 3rd Jakarta Marketing Week, the Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X–Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region–was invited to deliver ‘Lecture of the Year 2015’. The topic was about ‘Jogja Renaisans’, the leadership vision of Sultan in shaping Yogyakarta by reviving its historical culture and values to be amalgamated with today and future context in a harmonic manner. He stated that superiority of a nation can only be achieved through the superiority of its people in terms of spirituality, intellectuality, and work ethic. “Culture poses crucial role in promoting or depleting the quality of life of a nation. Thus, Indonesia needs to adopt the cross cultural fertilization strategy to foster a culture of excellence. This spirit of excellence will be the spirit of Renaissance Yogyakarta,” said Sultan.
